Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tamil film actor Prabhu were among a bevy of celebrities who inaugurated the flagship store of jewellery manufacturer and distributor Kalyan Jewellers here today.
Telugu film star and producer Nagarjuna, Kanada actor Shivaraj Kumar and Malayalam actress Manju Warrier were also present on the occasion.
According to Kalyan Jewellers Chairman and Managing Director Kalyan Raman, the company invested close to Rs 200 crore for the store which is spread across 40,000 square foot.
The store offers five lakh designs and can accommodate 500 customers at a time.
Roads leading to the store were chock-a-block as people converged to take a glimpse of the celebrities and police had a tough time controlling the crowd.

The 50th store for the Kerala-based jewellery retailer and 78th globally was unveiled by the film stars who are also their brand ambassadors.

"I have been associated with the Tamil film industry including late actor superstar Shivaji Ganesan for the last 40 years. I am happy to be a part of the Kalyan Jewellers launch in Chennai," Bachchan clad in a traditional silk dhoti and shirt, said.
Observing that she had a "special bond" with Chennai, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said the inauguration of the Kalyan Jewellers store was perhaps the first event for her to share space with father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.

Warrier clad in a red silk saree termed the inauguration of flagship store as "a historic moment for Chennai and Kalyan Jewellers".
