Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK), in a statement, said that it was a long pending issue and had virtually become a roadblock in the independent functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
"It will go a long way in making it real autonomous body that would fulfil the mandate as enshrined in its constitution," an AMK spokesperson said.
Besides Kashmir University, JKAACL is the only institution in the state that has been created by virtue of Jammu and Kashmir Constitution.
He said the literary fraternity hails the role of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also JKAACL president, and Minister for Culture Haseeb Drabu for taking the step.
