Amol Deshmukh, son of former two- time president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Ranjeet Deshmukh, has joined the Congress party ahead of civic bodies polls in the Maharashtra.
A medical doctor who obtained a Masters in Management from the UK, Amol had served in international projects in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Nepal and other countries in government run-health projects.
Amol joined the Congress in Mumbai yesterday in presence of MPCC chief Ashok Chavan and leaders Anantrao Gharad and Ramkrishna Ojha.
He is the younger brother of Katol BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh.
While Ashish joined BJP ahead of Maharashtra Assembly polls in 2014 and got elected from Katol Constituency, Amol could not get a Congress ticket and fought Assembly elections from Ramtak Constituency on a NCP ticket and lost.
Ashish had defeated his uncle NCP leader Anil Deshmukh, who was a Minister in the then Prithviraj Chavan-led government.
