Alleging the incident to be a case of fake encounter, Abdullah Azzam, President of the students union, said "the killing of the five handcuffed prisoners in cold blood by the police in a fake encounter was a blot on India's democracy and the country's justice delivery system."
"Such incidents mark a fascist mind set of the security apparatus of the country and are making a mockery of the development agenda of the present Government", he said addressing protesters last night.
The AMU students' Union also condemned killing of twenty people from Tamil Nadu in a police operation in Chittoor on April 7 even as the family members and relatives of the deceased alleged that the incident was a "planned murder" by Andhra Pradesh Police.
The Union demanded a high level probe in both the incidents and punishment of those found guilty.
