Actor Andy Serkis will be honoured with the Motion Picture Showman of the Year Award during the 55th International Cinematographers Guild's Publicists Awards.
The 53-year-old actor starred in two blockbuster films last year, "War of the Planet of the Apes" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", and is considered a pioneer in the field of motion capture.
Serkis will be feted at a ceremony which will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on March 2.
"Andy Serkis, with his unparallelled flexibility and understanding of movement, has made motion capture his own. We are delighted that he will be flying in from England to be with us," ICG national president Steven Poster said in a press release.
Through motion capture, the actor has given some of most memorable performances in films such as "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "King Kong", "Planet of the Apes" trilogy and recently in "Star Wars" films.
The actor made his directorial debut last year with "Breathe", starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, and is currently directing "Mowgli", an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic 'The Jungle Book', starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch. Serkis is playing Baloo in the film.
