Sitting MLA from Forbesganj Padam Parag Rai Venu today joined the ruling JD-U after he was denied a party ticket by the BJP.
Venu, son of noted litterateur Phaniswar Nath Renu, joined the JD-U in the presence of state JD-U chief Bashishtha Narayan Singh. Venu had won the seat in 2010 Assembly elections.
"I had the inkling that I too would become the victim of NDA-JDU alliance break up as Nitish Kumar had played an important role in getting me the BJP ticket from Forbesganj (in Araria district). But it became evident, the day BJP denied the ticket to the late Kailashpati Mishra's daughter-in-law Dilmani Devi....I am returning home," Venu told reporters here.
Meanwhile, Kailashpati Mishra's daughter-in-law Dilmani Devi had yesterday joined the JD(U) at its office.
Dilmani Devi, who was denied ticket from Brahmapur Assembly seat in Buxar district, from where she was elected in 2010, said she would move around the state to "expose" the BJP leaders.
A few days back, another BJP MLA Vikram Kuer had also joined the JD-U after he was denied ticket by the BJP from Raghunathpur assembly constituency.
JD-U chief Bashishtha Narayan Singh said, "I do not know which policy BJP has adopted. Those who nurtured the party are being sidelined."
Taking a swipe Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, Singh said, "The Prime Minister is devoting too much time in the state elections. This shows that he neither have confidence nor faith in the state BJP's leadership who can match Nitish Kumar's personality."
Shah has gone to Sitabdiara, the birth place of Jaya Prakash Narayan.
