Another Indian national, who was among about 15 people held hostage in a popular Sydney cafe and later rescued, was also an Infosys employee.
"We have received confirmation that another Infosys employee was in the siege. Both employees have been rescued safely," the city headquartered company said in a statement.
"We are grateful to the Australian authorities and New South Wales Police for their efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the hostages. We also thank the Indian Consulate and the Ministry of External Affairs for their continuous monitoring and involvement in the situation, and everyone else who helped see us all through this ordeal," the statement said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families," it said.
Earlier Infosys has said that one its employees was among the hostages at the Lindt Cafe in Sydney.
Shortly after the 16-hour siege ended with police action, External Affairs Ministry officials had said that Vishwakant Ankit Reddy, in his mid-30s and currently employed with IT major Infosys and Pushpendu Ghosh are both safe and now in police custody.
Initially it was believed that Ankit Reddy, an Infosys employee, was the only Indian hostage.
