AP committed to attain United Nations SDGs: Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh today committed itself to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and working towards ending poverty by 2030.
"We commit ourselves to attain SDGs, end poverty by 2030," Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said today.
Andhra Pradesh's Vision 2029 document says the state would "adopt the globalSustainableDevelopmentGoals2030 to direct and drive the social and economicdevelopmentpolicies and programmes".
SDG2030 contains 17goalsand 169 targets like ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, making cities moresustainableand combating climate change.
"As some of thegoalsand targets in SDG2030 are not of direct relevance to AP, the state government has customised them into 12goalsand 115 targets that are directly consequential and on which the state will initiate action," the Vision document said.
Global Citizens India, a social movement for bringing an end to extreme poverty, handed over a petition on SDGs containing over 90,000 signatures of activists to AP Chief Secretary Satya Prakash Tucker here today.
"While congratulating AP's leadership for joining the SDG movement, we request other states in the country to follow suit," Global Citizen India spokesperson Bhavya Bishnoi said on the occasion.
