Acting on a tip-off, a police team yesterday intercepted two cars near GIET College in Rajanagaram area and found 146kg ganja packed in small packets inside the vehicles.
The packets, each carrying about 2kg of the contraband, Rs 12,200 cash, 12mobiles phones and the two cars were seized by the police.
The eight persons inside the two cars were also arrested, police said.
The ganja was allegedly being transported from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad and from there the peddlers intended to take it to New Delhi for sale, they said.
A case has been registered and those arrested have been remanded in judicial custody, police added.
