'AP govt allocated Rs 6.90 cr to build roads in tribal areas'

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister N Chinnarajappa today said the state government has allocated Rs 6.90 crore to resolve the long pending problems of roads in tribal pockets of the state.
"There are no proper roads in tribal areas and people there are facing severe problems. The state government has allocated Rs 6.90 crore to lay roads in tribals areas to solve the issues of roads in these areas permanently," Chinnarajappa said.
He was speaking while laying foundation stone of a road in Satyavaram village of Routhalapudi mandal of the district.
"Out of the total amount, village panchayats will bear 50 per cent cost, while NREGS will bear the remaining 50 per cent for the roads that will be laid in tribal villages, he added.

"The state government is putting pressure on the Centre to accord special status for Andhra Pradesh," he added.
The Deputy CM also added that the state government has acquired 33,000 acres of land for setting up a capital in Guntur district, he added.
The lift irrigation projects of Pushkar and Polavaram right canal project will be completed in time to provide irrigation water and drinking water in the district, he added.
