AP govt announces revival of academies for promotion of Telugu

The Andhra Pradesh government today issued orders to revive the defunct academies for the promotion of Telugu literature, music, drama and fine arts in the state, on the eve of Telugu new year 'Ugadi'.
A Government Order (GO) issued today directed the director of cultural affairs to take steps for revival of Andhra Pradesh Sahitya Academy, Andhra Pradesh Sangeeta Nataka Academy and Andhra Pradesh Lalita Kala Academy, abrogated in 1985.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had announced during the 4th World Telugu Conference, held in Tirupati last December, that the academies would be revived for the promotion of Telugu language and culture.
