Andhra Pradesh government will soon conduct a "Smart Pulse Survey" in two phases for collecting socio-economic data of 1.48 crore households in the state.
The first phase of the survey will be held from June 20 to 30 followed by the second phase from July 5 to 30, Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said.
The state Cabinet, which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, decided to conduct the survey to determine the socio-economic status and collect all other relevant details of each household in the state, he said.
Revenue and civic staff would to houses and collect the data. The citizens can also provide their details over the Internet as well, Reddy said.
The survey assumes significance in the light of Naidu's announcement at the TDP's annual conclave 'Mahanadu' on May 27 that his government has "no objection" to extending reservation for the economically-backward among the upper classes.
"We will extend reservation on the basis of the socio-economic survey," he had announced.
The Cabinet also decided to fill 10,000 government posts immediately. While the state Police Recruitment Board would fill 6,000 vacancies in the department, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) would fill 94 Group-1, 750 Group-2 and 1,000 Group-3 posts.
Another 1,000 posts of technicians, 422 posts in medical and health and 732 posts in other departments would also be filled through the APPSC, Reddy said.
The Cabinet also decided to distribute bicycles to 1.80 lakh girl students of class XI in the state, he said, adding, "This will check dropouts.
