"Steps will be initiated within two months for the waiver of crop loans to farmers," Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture, Prathipati Pulla Rao said at the agricultural conference held at Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari district.
"The work of paying Rs 100 crore subsidy to the farmers, whose crop was affected and damaged in 'Neelam cyclone' is going on war footing," he added.
He said that godowns will be constructed in Andhra Pradesh with Rs 250 crore National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) funds, he said.
State Deputy Chief Minister N Chinna Rajappa said with the construction of a multi-purpose Polavaram project, problems of drinking and irrigation water to will be solved and more land will be brought under cultivation.
