City police have warned of initiating action against those indulging in violating the AP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act during Bakrid celebrations.
"It is strictly prohibited to sell cows, she buffaloes and calves (calf), which is a crime under the AP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act 1977," an official release said here.
If anyone violates the rules by selling these animals for slaughtering purpose to abattoirs, they may be punished as per law, it further said.
Police have also instructed organisers/management of the slaughter houses to sell only bullock/ox at their premises during the Bakrid festival season.
In view of the Bakrid festival, police officials yesterday held meeting with the management/organisers of the slaughter houses at Golconda, Langer-House, Nampally and Musheerabad areas.
During the meeting it came to light that cow, she buffaloes and bullock/ox are being sold during the Bakrid festival season, the release said.
