"It is strictly prohibited to sell cows, she buffaloes and calves (calf), which is a crime under the AP Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act 1977," an official release said here.
If anyone violates the rules by selling these animals for slaughtering purpose to abattoirs, they may be punished as per law, it further said.
Police have also instructed organisers/management of the slaughter houses to sell only bullock/ox at their premises during the Bakrid festival season.
During the meeting it came to light that cow, she buffaloes and bullock/ox are being sold during the Bakrid festival season, the release said.
