Andhra Pradesh government will conduct a 'Smart Pulse Survey' for collecting socio-economic data of 1.48 crore households in the state.
The first phase of the survey will commence on July 8 with enumerators collecting details of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his riverfront residence at Vundavalli near here.
The first phase of the survey was supposed to begin on June 20, but was put off as training of the personnel was not completed in time.
The state Cabinet on June 1 decided to conduct the survey to determine the socio-economic status and collect all other relevant details of each household in the state.
Revenue and civic staff would go round the houses and collect the data during the above dates.
Citizens could provide their details over the Internet as well.
The state government today appointed senior IAS officers, who previously served as Collectors, as nodal officers for the 13 districts to oversee the survey.
The survey assumes significance in the light of the Chief Minister's announcement at the TDP's annual conclave Mahanadu on May 27 that his government has "no objection" in extending reservation for the economically-backward among the upper classes.
"We will extend the reservation on the basis of the socio-economic survey," he had announced.
