The proposed Energy Conservation Corps (ECC) will be on the lines of National Cadet Corps (NCC) and have units in schools and colleges, from where it will enroll members, Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao.
The project has been envisaged under the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission, he said.
The ECC would help in achieving the desired goals of energy conservation where students will play a proactive role and minimise electricity consumption themselves and encourage others to do so, said Rao, who is also the Mission Chairman.
He said energy conservation has become part of school curriculum. "For the first time, the government has included a chapter on energy conservation in syllabus of Classes 8th, 9th and 10th.
