Apollo Tyres redesignates CFO Sarkar as Chief Business Officer

Apollo Tyres has redesignated its President and Chief Financial Officer Sunam Sarkar as President and Chief Business Officer.
Sarkar, who would now be based in Singapore would oversee corporate strategy, integrated supply chain including raw material sourcing, production planning and logistics operations, Apollo Tyres said in a statement.
He would also look after information technology, Greater China Operations, corporate social responsibility and corporate communications, it said.
Sarkar would continue as the CFO until a replacement is announced, Apollo Tyres said.
Commenting on the development, Apollo Tyres Vice Chairman and Managing Director Neeraj Kanwar said:" He continues to lead the Strategic Planning function at Apollo and with his previous experience in Sales, Marketing, Strategy and Finance, he is the ideal person to develop, implement and lead Apollo's growth strategy, where we seek a strong presence in new geographies".
He further added that Sarkar will have an important role in the vital area of strategic sourcing, for which the company is establishing a new base in Singapore.
Sarkar joined Apollo in 1999 was elevated to the board of the company in 2004.
Headquartered at Gurgaon, Apollo Tyres had clocked a turnover of USD 2.34 billion at the end of its financial year on March 31, 2013. It has a global workforce of 16,000 employees.
