Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) today issued notices to state chief secretary, DGP and others on reports that a man claiming to be the relative of deputy chief minister N Chinna Rajappa has "cheated" many people by promising jobs, saying the police action of releasing him "gives scope to suspicion".
Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports that one Avinash, belonging to Rajahmundry of East Godavari district, is doing a "mischief" by collecting lakhs of rupees from innocent persons by promising them jobs in government and attacking the affected persons who confronted him, APHRC asked the officials to file a report by April 6.
As per reports after the matter was brought to the notice of police, Avinash was inquired and let off.
"When the person (Avinash) is doing mischief claiming to be the relative of Home Minister, the action of police in arresting and releasing him immediately is giving scope for suspicion," the APSHRC said.
The reports further said that Avinash "cheated" many persons by claiming himself to be the chairman of the International Human Rights Commission.
It is reported that Avinash also claimed to be holding the cabinet rank and moves in a posh car with a VIP beacon installed atop it and was in the process of cheating many educational institutions and NGOs by collecting huge amounts.
As per reports, the East Godavari police initially took Avinash into custody on February 27 but later let him off due to "political pressure".
The reports further claimed that Avinash confined a Dalit family in their house, beat them up and filmed the incident which he used to show to those who confronted him.
Taking note of these reports, the APSHRC also issued notices to East Godavari district Collector and Superintendent of Police.
