Designer Archana Kochhar, who presented her latest collection at the India Fashion Week in Dubai, took inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Make in India" campaign.
The third season of IFWD brought Kochhar and Pakistani designer Deepak Perwani on one platform at the fashion show held on December 1 and 2.
"My collection "A Tale Of Three villages" for India Fashion Week, Dubai draws its inspiration from the three unique villages of India, two out of which are a part of the "Make in India" campaign initiated by the Prime Minister," Archana told PTI.
"My collection is inspired by the peace silk which is also known as the "Ahimsa Silk" from a village in Jharkhand. This silk is extracted and woven without killing the silkworms," she said.
The colour palette of the collection is beige which is the natural colour of the silk and is offset with ivory. Her theme was a fuse of Indian-contemporary silhouettes, where the east meets the west. The new line includes gowns, dresses and a range of ethereal bridal wear.
"The second collection is inspired by the nomadic tribe of India called Banjara. The colours are black and white offset with multi-colour thread work," Archana said.
The third collection is a light Bridal collection appropriate for destination weddings made in a soft palette of pastel shades, embroidered in subtle self on self-thread work, she said.
Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly was the show stopper.
"I had multiple showstoppers for the Grand Finale. Celina Jaitly walked the ramp as the main showstopper, we had real life celebrities, the who's who of Dubai also walking for us," she added.
