The 21-year-old Ratanjay was near his home in Kiriburu township and took shelter under a tree when the thunderbolt struck the area and suffered injuries in the afternoon yesterday.
He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police officials said.
Ratanjay was the elder brother of compound archer, Rajni, who recently returned after winning an individual silver medal at the Asian Archery Taipei Open Tournament held early this month.
