Argentine authorities have seized a record 8.5 tons of marijuana.
The pot was found in auto parts boxes on a truck that was on its way to Chile. Border police arrested the truck driver, a Paraguayan citizen.
Argentine national security secretary Sergio Berni said yesterday that the marijuana came from Paraguay and the final destination was Chile.
Argentina's porous border is increasingly attractive for traffickers exporting marijuana from Paraguay and cocaine from Bolivia and Peru to markets in the US, Europe and beyond.
