Argentine movie bags 'Suvarna Chakoram'

Argentine movie 'Refugiado' has bagged the coveted 'Suvarna Chakoram' (Golden Crow Pheasant Award) for the Best Feature Film in the 19th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala, which concluded here today.
The movie's director-producer Diego Lerman and co-producer Nicolas Avruj would share the prize money of Rs 15 lakh and trophy.
Japanese director Hiroshi Toda's 'Summer Kyoto' was adjudged as the 'Rajatha Chakoram' (Silver Crow Pheasant award) for the best director and the FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) Award for the best Asian film while Iranian director Hossein Shahabi's bagged the Rajatha Chakoram in the best debut director category for the movie 'The Bright Day'.

Malayalam film 'Oralpokkam' (Six Feet High) directed by Sanalkumar Sasidharan received the Network for the Promotion of Asian Film Centre (NETPAC) award and FIPRESCI award in the Malayalam cinema category.
Moroccan film 'They are the Dogs' was selected for the FIPRESCI Award in the international competition section, while Afghan movie 'Oblivion Season' received special mention in the NETPAC award.
Sajin Baabu-directed Malayalam movie 'Asthamayam Vare' (Unto the Dusk) received the Audience Poll Award.

Kerala Governor P Sathasivam distributed the awards in a grand valedictory ceremony at the Nishagandhi Open Auditorium here in the presence of an array of national and international film personalities.

Minister for Cinema Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, Minister for Culture K C Jospeh and Chalachitra Academy Chairman Rajeev Nath were present.
As many as 140 movies from different countries were screened in the one-week movie gala.
