Spears told Washington, D.C.'s Fox 5 via text message that the explosions started after the show closed, reported Billboard.
"We finished the show and we were walking back to our dressing rooms and BOOM!!!!" he wrote.
"We could hear people, we had no idea what it was... There was all kinds of speculation as to what was going on. Like five minutes after getting to the room, security came in and informed us that we had to evacuate the building immediately.
Spears' account comes after Ariana, 23, said she was left "broken" over the deaths of her fans and made the decision to "indefinitely suspend" the rest of her 'Dangerous Woman Tour' dates.
