"We have arrested three persons at Inter State Bus Terminal. Two are from Garo hills and one is from the city," IGP (Central Western Range) L R Bishnoi told reporters here.
The consignment of the arms was intercepted when it was on way to Meghalaya from Dimapur in Nagaland as a courier in an inter-state bus.
The two persons from Meghalaya are identified as Arvid Sangma and Jamir Marak, while Jahid Hussain from the city acted as the courier for the consignment, the IGP said.
The entire operation, which started last night and was over this morning, was led by City SSP Anand P Tiwari and SP (Operations) Ranjan Bhuyan.
Bishnoi said this is the second incident in the city this year involving the GNLA. Earlier in February, two cadres of the terrorist organisation were killed in a joint operation by police and army.
