The Army today paid its last respects to Naik Mahendra Chemjung who was killed on the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber Gali sector on October 3, a defence spokesman said.
In a solemn wreath-laying ceremony organised at Rajouri, wreaths were laid on behalf of GOC-in-C Northern Command, GOC 16 Corps, and GOC 25 Division. Officers and all other ranks saluted and also bid farewell to the gallant soldier, he said.
Pakistan troops had resorted to firing and shelling from October 2 to October 4 along the LoC in Poonch in which three persons -- two minors and a jawan -- were killed and 18 persons, including six soldiers, injured.
