Rawat stressed on the need to have an "alignment" of the problems faced by the army with solutions and the need for industry and the forces to come together.
"The industry and the army, if we can all come together we will fight the next war in the manner in which we wish to fight and not like the last was was fought," Rawat said, addressing an event at South Block.
Deputy Chief of Army Staff for Planning and Systems Lt Gen Subrata Saha, who has been spearheading the initiative, was also present on the occasion.
In his brief speech, Rawat also highlighted the gulf between army's requirements and the industry's understanding.
He expressed hope that the compendium will help bridge the gap and enable the army to go for indigenous modernisation.
