Army kills five militants in Pakistan
Press Trust of India Islamabad At least five militants were killed and 10 others injured today when security forces pounded their hideouts in Pakistan's restive northwest tribal region, where military has launched a major offensive against the Taliban.
The security forces targeted rebels in the Akakhel and Sipah areas of Khyber district.
"Five militants were killed and 10 injured in the attack," a security official said adding that artillery and mortars were used by the forces.
Both the areas are considered as strongholds of Lashkar-i-Islam militant organisation.
Around 60 militants have been killed in Khyber-I offensive launched against militants in the Khyber tribal district last month.
According to officials, the operation will continue till the extremists are completely wiped out.
