The Army on Monday flagged off a mountaineering expedition from here to the Mount Chamser Kangri peak located on the eastern bank of Tso Moriri lake in Rupshu region of eastern Ladakh.
The White Knight Corps' expedition team led by Major Vikas Rathore comprises three officers, two junior commissioned officers and 14 other ranks, an Army spokesperson said.
He said the team would undertake the daunting task of summiting the Mount Chamser Kangri, which is located at an approximate altitude of 22,000 feet.
The mountaineering expedition is in tune with the ethos of the Indian Army to instill a spirit of adventure and camaraderie amongst its personnel, the spokesperson said.
