The main function in Jammu and Kashmir was held at the Udhampur-based Northern Command headquarters, in which a large number of civil dignitaries, Ex-Serviceman and services personnel participated and paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in Indo-Pak war of 1971.
Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on December 16 to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in 1971.
The Northern Command commemorated the occasion with a wreath laying ceremony at Dhurva War Memorial by Lt Gen H J S Sachdev, Chief of Staff, Northern Command.
On this occasion, Lt Gen Chachra exhorted all ranks of the Northern Command to rededicate themselves in the service of the nation and emulate the devotion and absoluteness of war veterans and martyrs, which has brought the Indian Army to the pinnacle of professional glory.
