Army's Nothern Command Chief Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra today greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and hoped the festival of compassion, sharing and sacrifice would usher in lasting peace and prosperity in the state.
Army Commander Lt Gen Chachra conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the joyous and auspicious occasion of Eid which marks the end of the annual Haj pilgrimage to the Mecca.
He also thanked the people for their support to the men in uniform.
He hoped that the festival will strengthen "our faith and usher lasting peace, cohesion and prosperity in the state".
In Poonch, Army's Durga Battalion today celebrated Eid with villagers and ex-servicemen of far flung areas along the Line of Control with traditional fervor.
Despite the adverse situation and rugged terrain, Army organised the festival to showcase the great ethos of communal harmony and religious tolerance.
