Army sponsors education of 30 students from Ladakh

The Army has sponsored education of 30 children from various remote villages of Ladakh region to study in three schools being run by it in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
"Thirty students from the remote areas of Ladakh region have been sponsored by the Army to study in Army Public School Beas (Punjab), Drona Boys School and Hostel, Udhampur and Army Goodwill Public School, Pehalgam," a defence spokesperson said today.
The students interacted with Lieutenant General D S Hooda, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command at Nyoma Village in Leh district, before proceeding to the schools, he said.
"Lt. Gen. Hooda encouraged the student to not only do well in academics but also excel in sports. Assistance in providing quality education to these students will go a long way in the progress of remote areas of our country," the spokesperson said.

He said Lt Gen Hooda also flagged off a 'National Integration Tour' of 22 elderly people from remote areas of Ladakh region which has been organised by the Fire and Fury Corps under 'Operation Sadbhavana'. The participants will visit Chandigarh, Dharmasala and Rivalsar.
