"The youths are lynchpin of the country and its future depend on them, but it appears that the youths have developed a tendency to earn money quickly by ignoring the mantras of discipline, honesty and propriety," he said at a felicitation function for him at Raj Rajeshwari high school in Suryapura regions of Rohtas district today.

The youths must abandon tendencies like laziness and taking to wrong path for success and in the process they can help build the country and take it to dizzy heights, he said.

A student of Raj Rajeshwari school, the Vice Chief of Army Staff said that he was proud of his native state Bihar which has been a world leader since ancient times and where the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi launched the freedom struggle, besides being the birth place of the top political leaders like Jai Prakash Narayan and Rajendra Prasad, the first president of the country.

The NCC Director P.H Balla and the legislative council chairman Awadesh Narayan Singh attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Balla said that the Centre has increased the number of cadets in the NCC from 13 lakh to 15 lakh, out of which 50,000 additional cadets will be recruited from Bihar.
