Twenty protectors detained by police during AAP's demonstration at Anand Parbat police station station were today produced before a city court which sent them to one-day judicial custody.
"Charges of rioting, damage to public property and obstructing public servants from discharging their duty and other relevant sections of IPC were levelled against the 20 persons detained by us during the protest," said Parmaditya, DCP Central Delhi district police.
They will again be produced before a magistrate tomorrow.
Six women protesters were also detained by the police who were later released after completing the legal process. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers had clashed with Delhi Police demanding the resignation of the local ACP and SHO over the murder of a 19-year-old girl in the Anand Parbat area.
Six policemen including two women cops were injured during the protest by AAP as the protesters dismantled several barricades to stop them, said the officer.
The protesters were demanding resignation of the concerned ACP and SHO of Anand Parabat police station for their alleged apathy and negligence in the case.
Police had resorted to lathicharge to disperse the large number of protesters of the party's youth wing gathered outside the Anand Parbat police station who clambered over the barricades.
Nineteen-year-old Meenakshi was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by two brothers living in the Anand Parbat area for protesting their verbal abuse on July 16.
