Artists get a new platform in weekly online auctions

Bollywood memorabilia featuring heros like Amitabh Bachchan and Raj Kapoor besides works by modern and contemporary art stalwarts like S H Raza as well as folk and tribal Indian art are among those on offer by online art platform StoryLTD.Com.
The platform has now introduced a concept of auctions to be held every week, beginning this month, with art works on offer being priced as low as Rs 1,575.
Fresh works of Modern and Contemporary art, traditional Folk and Tribal art, antiquities, fine interiors and vintage film posters will be offered every week in "no-reserve" auctions.
Minal Vazirani of StoryLTD.Com says, "By introducing this new property of weekly online auctions, we want to keep our audiences continuously engaged with great art, that is affordable as it is unique. If you're lucky, you could find an extraordinary work of art at an attractive price. We believe that art is meant to be seen, not stored."

Since April 2014, the website says it has conducted 21 no-reserve online auctions and generated more than Rs 17 crores (USD 2.8 million) in sales.
The rich landscapes of Ram Kumar, Ramkinkar Baij, Manu Parekh, the human figures in the works of M F Husain, Shibu Natesan, F N Souza, Krishen Khanna, Thota Vaikuntam besides the chance to unearth new possibilities in the works of Baiju Parthan, Sohan Qadri, Sadanand Shirke, Arpana Caur are on offer in the auction of Modern and Contemporary art held between July 7-8.

Further up on July 14-15 brings together significant indigenous art practices such as Gond and Bhil paintings by Durga Bai and Lado Bai of Madhya Pradesh, Warli etchings by the Mashes of Maharashtra, picchwais that pay homage to the gods, and stories of tribal life in patachitras.

Film memorabilia like film posters, lobby cards, publicity stills are on offer in the "Badshahs of Bollywood" upcoming on July 28- 29.
A poster each of Amitabh Bachchan in 1990 film "Agneepath" and Dilip Kimar in the 1961 film "Jumna",a photographic still lobby card of Ashok Kumar in "Bandhan" , a photo still mounted on a lobby card of Raj Kapoor in the 1964 film Sangam are among the auction lots.
Previous auctions on the website included that of Hollywood film and memorabilia besides Fine interiors and Collectibles among others.
