Arun and Aditya Agrawal start on winning note

The father-son duo of Arun and Aditya Agrawal recorded comfortable wins to kick off their campaigns in the CCI Classic Billiards and Snooker tournament that got under way here today.
Maharashtra state selection senior champion Arun prevailed over Rohan Jambusaria 688-226 with a break of 107 in Group B, while Aditya overcame V 'Raja' Subramanian 727-295, that included breaks of 74 and 93, in Group C.
The other winner in Group C was Malkeet Singh of the host Cricket Club of India who beat Shekhar Surve of Railways 444-287.
Seasoned cueist Chandresh Shah lost two successive against matches against former Railways champion Siddharth Parikh and Maharashtra state selection junior champion Jaiveer Dhingra of ONGC in Group A. Parikh's effort included breaks of 83, 91 and a brilliant 140.
The billiards round robin features four groups of six players each and the top four finishers from each group would qualify for the knock-out pre-quarter-finals.
Results: Group A: Siddharth Parikh (Rlys) bt Chandresh Shah (Mah) 768(83,91,140)-370; Jaiveer Dhingra (ONGC) bt Chandresh Shah 541-380.
Group B: Arun Agrawal (Mah) bt Rohan Jambusaria (Mah) 688(107)-226.
Group C: Malkeet Singh (CCI) bt Shekhar Surve (Rlys) 444-287; Aditya Agrawal (Rlys) bt V. 'Raja' Subramanian (Mah) 727(93,74)-295.
