Arunachal Pradesh and Assam have agreed to maintain status quo along the inter-state boundary till a concrete solution was evolved by the Supreme Court constituted Local Boundary Commission, headed by Justice (Retd) Tarun Chaterjee.
During a meeting, which was convened in Assam's Sonitpur district yesterday to discuss the boundary issue, the administration of East Kameng (Arunachal) and Sonitpur (Assam) emphasised on the need to maintain peace, harmony and the age-old bond of the people of the two neighbouring states.
East Kameng deputy commissioner Tarin Dakpe and his Sonitpur district counterpart Lalit Gogoi agreed to maintain the status quo as per the apex court ruling, official sources said here today.
During the discussion, Dakpe expressed hope that the relationship maintained by his Assam counterpart would promote peace, harmony and co-existence between the people of Seijosa and Dissing Passo circle of Arunachal and Assam.
Dakpe also invited his Sonitpur counterpart to visit Seijosa and Bhalukpong, the sources said.
