Happy with the cinematic execution of 'Ashchorjyo Prodeep', the modern day fantasy tale by sharp witted-adman-film maker Anik Dutta, popular writer Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay said he knew that the 'Bhooter Bhabisyot' maker was the perfect choice to intreprete the nuances.
"Anik has told me before premier that he is apprehensive about audience response. I told him you will get accolades not abuses after the show. And the ending couldn't have been better. Any cinematic representation differs from the written text, one print and aother more direct visual medium," Shirshendu, whose Chhayamoy had also been put to celluloid months back, told PTI.
Happy with the audience feedback after the screening, director Anik Dutta said, "It is a black comedy with many innuendos in dialogue, which forms an important part, and the audience did not seem to miss any particular word or phrase or any subt touchle nuance."
Actor Rudranil Ghosh dubbed Ashchorjyo Prodeep, as more in the league of 'Hirak Rajar Deshe', the eponymous Goopye Gyne Bagha Byne sequel of Satyajit Ray, than Goopy Gyne itself "which was purely a children's film".
Showbiz Diva Moonmoon Sen and heroin-daughter Raima said, "It is a great film, very witty and subtle, not loud."
"I loved Anikda's Bhooter Bhobisyot and now I like this one. I am in awe of Anikda as director," Raima said.
Actor Mumtaj Sorcar, portraying the
supermodel-bollywood heroin role in the flick, said, "I drew references from the steps and acts of all supermodels from Naomi (Campbell) to Nayanika (Chatterjee) but working with Anikda will help you perfect each and every step.
"It is a very different film, in look and feel, from Bhooter Bhabisyot, like me portrayals in two films as the ghost of a murdered para don in the spooky flick and a salesman-turned billionaire here but it has the same unmistakable touch of Anikda," actor Saswata Chatterjee said.
Ashchorjyo Prodeep, produced by Brand Value, was premiered on Friday.
