The global partnership between Chennai-based commercial vehicle maker and Sun Mobility will leverage India's innovation and engineering potential to develop electric mobility solutions, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.
"We are proud of this partnership and hope to bring several new innovative products to the market at the earliest," Ashok Leyland CEO and Managing Director Vinod K Dasari said.
Commenting on the tie-up, Sun Mobility Vice Chairman Chetan Maini said the company hopes to create a strategic alliance in the area of mass electric mobility.
Sun Mobility is a 50:50 joint venture between Virya Mobility 5.0 and SUN New Energy Systems which pioneers in areas of electric mobility and clean energy.
The company is led by Chetan Maini, founder of Reva and Uday Khemka, vice chairman of SUN Group.
