P D Rai of Sikkim Democratic Front referred to the incident at Institute of Technology and Future Trends (ITFT) during the Zero Hour.
Responding to this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said it is the responsibility of the central government to look into the matter and it will be done.
He said the institute should also probe the incident.
Five students from Sikkim were assaulted reportedly by a group of students from Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday evening. The five were hospitalised.
The two groups had clashed even earlier on that day but at that time, an ugly situation was averted due to the intervention of the authorities.
The two groups reportedly had hostility dating back a few months after a fight inside a bus.
