Assistance for funeral expenditure doubled for SC families

Puducherry government has doubled the financial assistance to the Scheduled Castes to meet funeral expenditure in the families from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.
An official communication of the Directorate of Adi Dravidar Welfare said that the rules relating to the grant of financial assistance for funeral expenditure of the SC families has been amended to raise the quantum of assistance to Rs 10,000.
The scheme to extend the assistance was introduced in 1982.
The Department has also raised the quantum of monthly assistance to patients belonging to Scheduled Caste and who were unable to earn the livelihood due to prolonged illness from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000. The government has amended the relevant rules to raise the assistance, the communication said.
