Deepak Brajesh, a first year medical student at Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh medical college, was found lying at the AIIMS auditorium in a semi-conscious state in the morning yesterday.
He was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital.
As there were no injuries to his body, doctor's suspect drug overdose was the reason for the student being taken ill.
However, his urine and blood samples have been sent for tests to check for any toxic substances.
"He doesn't even smoke or take alcohol, forget about taking drugs.
"Even the doctors have not confirmed anything. They are awaiting the blood and urine test results," said the father, who last night came to Delhi from Jaipur.
"He will turn 19 this Sept. 22. He was supposed to return home the same day and we were planning to celebrate together. But alas," he added.
"He (Deepak) is not able to speak but he is responding to his surroundings with eye movements," he said.
