"It is because of the CM (Fadnavis) that the process of taking possession of the Indu Mills land for the construction of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial ended quickly," Athawale said after meeting the Chief Minister.
"The Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) took the initiative to speed up the process to ink the agreement after being continuously persuaded to do so by Fadnavis...We are thankful to the CM for all that he has done to acquire the land," the RPI chief said.
Ambedkar, one of the architects of the Indian Constitution, died on December 6, 1956, and his last rites were conducted at this place.
