Attack against Amritanandamayi in book "i'national conspiracy"

Terming the attack against Mata Amritanandamayi in a book by her former disciple as an "international conspiracy" to tarnish her image by leveling baseless charges, Hindu religious outfits today called for a united fight against such attempts to 'malign' the community.
"Sanyasees and mutt heads are being humiliated as part of an international conspiracy. The need of the hour is a strong and united hindu community where none will have the courage to humiliate the most tolerant Hindu society," VHP chief Ashok Singhal, said.
"This time it is an international conspiracy of anti-Hindu fundamentalists to tarnish the great image of our beloved Amma... We will take a pledge to unitedly fight this conspiracy to end it for all time," he said.

He was delivering the inaugural address at 'DharmaRaksha Sangamam', where Mutt heads from various parts of the country and Hindu religious outfits are participating.
Singhal said the first target of this 'conspiracy' had been Kanchi Sankaracharaya who was arrested on the charge of murder. However, he came out unscathed after nine years. Similarly charges were levelled against Sadhvi Pragya Bharati and she was put behind bars, he said.
The VHP leader said the charges against Amritanandayi Mutt was an 'insult' to crores of Hindus and so the community should come together and fight it unitedly.

In his inaugural address, Udupi Pejwar Mutt head, swami Vishwesharatheerta said Hindu relgious acharayas should unitedly fight against the attack on the Amrita mutt.

Swami Prakashananda, Mutt head of Sivagiri Mutt, Swami Viviktananda Saraswati, State coordinator of Chinmaya Mission, SNDP Yogam leader Vellapally Natesan, were among those who spoke.
A row had broken out after Amritanandamayi's former disciple Australian born Gail Tradwell in her book 'Holy Hell: A memoir of faith, devotion and pure madness' raised certain allegations against the mutt and some sanyasees.
