Supporting Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale's demand for a CBI probe into the attack on him, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today criticised Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for rejecting it.
Asking why Badal is afraid of a CBI probe, he alleged, "There is no doubt that Badal is trying to shield someone and that is why he has rejected the CBI probe."
Unidentified assailants had opened fire at the cavalcade of Dhadrianwale on May 17 in which he had a narrow escape, but his aide Bhupinder Singh Khalsa died.
"Two weeks have passed since Dhadrianwale was attacked and one of his companions killed. How come the police are not able to trace the real culprits when they already have the clues after tracing the vehicles used in the attack," Amarinder asked.
There is no point in letting police investigate the matter when the victim has said that he did not have any faith in local police, he added.
