Attempts being made to outlaw, alter some aspects of Shariah:

Indian Muslims are feeling "insecure" as attempts are being made to disunite the community and sow the seeds of discord among them, the Hyderabad Declaration of the 26th plenary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board stated today.
It alleged the country was passing through a very critical phase and its democratic values were being systematically "eroded" as minorities, especially Muslims and other backward sections, were being subjected to atrocities.
"Attempts are also being made to outlaw, alter or change certain aspects of the Islamic Shariah. Under these circumstances, Muslims for sure are feeling insecure. There is no doubt that the present day conditions in the country are a matter of grave concern to the Muslims," the declaration said.

The declaration said the current situation in the country indicates that attempts were being made to sow the seeds of dissension and discord by bringing to the fore issues which can create rift among various sections of the society and schools of thoughts.
"Under these circumstances, the Indian Muslims have the prime responsibility to eschew differences and discord and protect the Islamic Shariah so as to strengthen unity among themselves," the Hyderabad Declaration contended.
"Muslims should follow the teachings of the Holy Quran, subject themselves to the will of Allah, remain united and keep themselves away from dissensions and differences," it stated, adding that any attack on Shariah law should be dealt with using a balanced approach.

Beauties of Shariah law should be explained, it said, in order to bring non-Muslims closer to Muslims and spread love and affection.

The declaration said the AIMPLB, which had been created for the protection of Shariah law and to bring about unity among the Muslims, was fully aware of the attempts being made to break the unity to the detriment of the entire community.
"It shall be our endeavour not to allow these unscrupulous deeds of some vested interests to destroy this unity," the AIMPLB stated.
It added that the community needed a large number of knowledgeable and considerate Muslims to propagate the Shariah law in the correct perspective and respond to hate with affection.
