The author of an article, who along with an editor of a local weekly newspaper was booked on charges of allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a community, has been released on bail.
The Court of District and Sessions Judge, Moga, Karamjit Singh Kang today ordered release of the author on bail. He was arrested on Tuesday night from his Patiala residence.
The weekly's editor also got pre-arrest bail from the same court.
The Moga district police had arrested the author from his Patiala residence and produced him before the court of Judicial Magistrate Pratima Mahajan later.
As the police had not pressed for remand, the court sent him to judicial custody till September 4.
The police had earlier registered a criminal case against the editor and the author of an article on the charge of "deliberately and maliciously" intending to outrage the religious feelings of a community.
