The collector of Chhota Udaipur Jenu Dewan, who was leading the authorities during the raid, had a narrow escape when one of the tractor collided with the former's vehicle.
Acting on a tip off, a team of officials reached the spot after it came to know about an illegal sand mining operation going on in Don Bosco School area here, official said.
"As soon as the sand mafia saw our team, they started fleeing from the spot. Drivers of three tractors jumped out of their vehicles without switching off the engine. And one of the sand-laden tractors collided with my car. It was a minor accident in which no one was hurt," Dewan told PTI.
Later, with the help of extra police force, 10 tractors carrying sand were seized from the site, he said.
"An FIR will be filed against those involved in illegal sand mining and also in connection with the accident," Rathore said.
