Autorickshaw driver P Srinivasa Rao, who frequently dropped a 19-year-old girl native of Sunkollu village to college, became very close to her, they said.
The girl and the autorickshaw driver, who belong to the same caste and same village, were in a live-in relationship, police said.
The driver had promised to marry the girl, but went back on his word later, they added.
Yesterday, the girl lodged a complaint in Nuzvid Rural police station. The driver was arrested and produced before the Nuzvid court today.
