Automobile showroom gutted

A major fire in an automobile showroom in the outskirts of the city today caused widespread damage to its workshop, store room, offices and garages but there was no casualty.
The showroom sources claimed that property worth lakhs of rupees have been gutted in the inferno that engulfed the entire three-storied building.
The showroom exclusively deals in vehicles of Maruti Suzuki India Limited and is located at Bhanapur along the National Highway about 10 kms from here.
Fire brigade officers fire tenders were rushed from Cuttack, Baranga and Bhubaneswar after a call was received at 6.10 pm. At least seven fire tenders struggled for over three hours to bring the blaze under control.

Lubricants and petrol stored in the store room intensified the inferno and spread quickly to other parts of the showroom, said fire brigade officer Bhabagrahi Panigrahi.
Electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason for the blaze.
