AVA Group acquires Melam brand for undisclosed sum

Manufacturers of 'Medimix' brand of soaps and personal care products, AVA Group, today announced its foray into the food business with acquisition of Melam Brand of masalas for an undisclosed sum.
"AVA Group is expanding into the foods business by acquiring Kerala-based Melam brand of Masalas, Curry powders, spices from M V J Foods India, for an undisclosed amount," a company statement said.
The acquisiton has been made by newly formed AVA Condiments LLP, subsidiary of AVA Cholayil Health Care.
"We are glad to expand into food business. Both the AVA Group's Medimix brand and Melam are household names built on quality and social commitment." AVA Group, Chairman and Managing Director, A V Anoop said.

"We would like to build on this heritage and also expand into newer markets in India and overseas", he said.
Initially, the company plans to expand presence in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Melam Group established in 1992 has a presence both in domestic and export markets. The products manufactured by the company were shipped to Middle East and Far East, United States, United Kingdom, Singapore and Australia.
"The acquisition by AVA Group will add strength and reach in other geographies", M V J Foods, Chairman and Managing Director, Kurian John Melamparambil said.
